Yolanda Rose Gibbons

Doll Biography: Yolanda Rose Gibbons
(1840-1910)

Yolanda Rose Gibbons, the eldest of eight children, was born into a middle class family from upstate New York.  Her parents owned a small restaurant that catered to the bohemian set of the time.

Helping in the family business as a waitress put her into close contact with writers, musicians and painters which helped her create her rather unusual outlook on life.

At eighteen she married one of the more promising men who patronized the eatery.  Unfortunately, her marriage proved unsuccessful and she left her husband for a more exciting life in San Francisco.  Yolanda Rose supported herself by modeling for painters and sculptors.

As the years continued and her looks began to fade, Yolanda Rose realized she had to pursue another career.  Refusing to support herself as a waitress, she entered into the "oldest profession in the world".  She spent the remainder of her life as "Madame Yolanda Rose".

She was very successful.
