Doll Biography: The Jailor
(1520-1570)
John Mortimor, one of the lesser torturers and a turn key in the Tower of London.
Although nothing is known of his beginnings, he became notorious among the unfortunate prisoners in the Tower due to his propensity for using the rack and thumb-screws.
He died of the plague in 1570.
